Sausage Stroganoff
Korv Stroganoff originated as a budget-friendly variation of beef Stroganoff. First introduced as a school meal in the 1950s, before spreading to households. It has since become a staple of Swedish cuisine. Later also spreading to other countries. The dish was Sweden’s fifth most popular dish in 2022
This recipe is meant to be cooked in a microwave oven, so make sure to use an oven dish suitable for microwave ovens!
You need
- 400 g Falu sausage (or Bologna sausage or German Fleischwurst / Lyoner)
- 1 yellow onion
- 1 tbsp margarine (or butter)
- 150 ml single cream (half-and-half)
- 3 tbsp tomato paste
- 1/2 tsp chopped fresh parsley (optional)
Instructions
- Remove the skin from the sausage and cut it into 1/2 cm thick strips
- Chop the onion
- Mix the sausage, onion, and margarine in a round oven dish (suitable for microwave ovens)
- Cook covered on full power for 7 minutes. Stir once during this time
- Mix the cream, tomato paste and salt. Pour the mixture over the sausage and cook uncovered on full power for another 2 minutes
- Optional step: Sprinkle generously with chopped parsley before serving
- Serve with rice.
