Sausage stroganoff (MW & AF)

Korv Stroganoff (sausage Stroganoff) originated as a budget-friendly twist on beef Stroganoff. First served in schools during the 1950s, it became a Swedish staple and a global favourite. In 2022, it was ranked as the fifth most popular dish in Sweden.
This recipe can be made in a microwave oven or an airfryer, only the temp and time are different. Temp and time for airfryer version are marked AF in the recipe.
You need…
- 400 g Falu sausage (or Bologna sausage or German Fleischwurst / Lyoner)
- 1 yellow onion
- 1 tbsp margarine (or butter)
- 1,5 dl single cream (half-and-half)
- 3 tbsp tomato paste
- Chopped fresh parsley (optional)
Pro-Tip: Add some chili powder or replace tomato paste with chili sauce for some heat (taste it until you find the right heat for you).
How to do…
- Remove the skin from the sausage and cut it into 1/2 cm thick strips
- Chop the onion
- Mix the sausage, onion, and margarine in a round oven dish (suitable for microwave ovens)
- Cook covered on full power for 7 minutes. Stir once during this time. in AF: 200 degrees for 7–8 minutes
- Mix the cream, tomato paste and salt. Pour the mixture over the sausage and cook uncovered on full power for another 2 minutes. In AF: 180 degrees for 15 minutes
- Optional step: Sprinkle generously with chopped parsley before serving
- Serve with rice.
